HunTel.net First to Deploy Nortel Networks HomeDSL for Consumer Broadband Access
G.Lite Solution Delivers Reliable Broadband Connectivity for Residential, SOHO Markets
BOSTON, July 14 /PRNewswire/ - HunTel.net, the ISP (Internet Service Provider) affiliate of HunTel Systems, has completed the first successful deployment of Nortel Networks (NYSE/TSE: NT) new residential and small office/home office (SOHO) broadband access system.
With Nortel Networks HomeDSL, HunTel.net is now offering affordable and reliable high-speed Internet access to consumers in Blair, Neb., using the G.Lite standard and easy-to-install DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) modems available through retail distribution.

With Nortel Networks HomeDSL, consumers can install an off-the-shelf G.Lite modem as easily as a standard 56K modem, eliminating the need for a costly service call.
HomeDSL enables HunTel.net to deliver DSL over existing telephone lines, and to provision service from the network operations center through a simple, 'point-and-click' interface. Customer service calls are handled by Creative Labs, a Nortel Networks HomeDSL strategic ally, further reducing operations costs.

Nortel Networks HomeDSL leverages G.Lite subscriber port densities and industry-leading QoS (quality of service) and service provisioning capabilities to reduce cost of network ownership and guarantee performance levels. HomeDSL uses Creative Labs Modem Blaster USB, one of the first DSL modems to fully support the USB standard. USB eliminates the need to install an Ethernet card in the consumer's personal computer for DSL service.
