Morning, Michael!
Well, at least we got the topic off religion and who your sister slept with last night!! DO we get credit for that?

I disagree with the first statement about the drugs the doctor was carrying being unusual.
I even related a personal story about my physician neighbor who came over when I was ill- talked with my own doctor- and had in his bag several drugs of the tranquilizer and painkiller variety. If a doctor were travelling into another country- I think it's highly likely he would have some of these and many other drugs in his bag. He was there for the entire family- which included adults- not only for Elian. So for me your #2 and 3 are more likely than #1, and I wonder why you think these drugs would NOT be found normally. You may believe it. But it's too much of an assumption for me.

Second---re the family---you missed my point!!! REad again what I wrote:
How about keeping a boy from his father, making him political fodder for the Cuban exile machine, and leaving him in a household that was showing severe signs of emotional deterioration? Exaggeration? No more than what you just wrote.

I didn't claim those things-- i simply made the same leaps from strong possibility to fact that you did re: the doctor.

I was using that example to show you how easy it is to make those kind of statements without saying IMO or it is likely or I think or one possibility is...
Actually though- the deteriorating family is MUCH more believable to me than the drug thing based on my own observations of the family's behavior - a frequently hysterical Marisleysis, the constant traffic of questionable characters through the home(and Donato IS a questionable character, along with the parade of CANF leaders) and worst of all, and this really is fact, the taping of Elian - that (imo- as a mom and social worker)bordered on coercion and child abuse.

As long as we make it clear that these are only the clonclusions we've reached by way of subjective leaps, rather than actual hard facts, I think we're ok because it allows us to argue while admitting that neither of us -- for that matter no one here on earth- has all the answers.
But I must go- we are off to Houston to be introduced to CW's robot today!! Have a great one!!
