OT: Tex/LaTex are still in there along with everything else. There are ways for you to easily install this Linux thing without worrying about disrupting your Win9x installation (which will disrupt itself in due time anyway). --- The first method allows most newer Linux distros to install on your Windows partition as if it were a program. It's a bit sluggish, but it lets you check it out. --- The second method would be prefered and that's setting up a dual boot installation. That doesn't touch your Windows installation either, but merely partitions freespace on your drive for the Linux filesystem and installs Linux alongside Windows. --- To do that, it's recommended you buy a Windows program called Partition Magic (the single best program ever written for Windows). With that, you easily partition your freespace for Linux and also use the BootMagic bootloader that comes with Partition Magic. --- Anyway, there's no reason to be fearful these days. It's pretty difficult to screw something up anymore, especially if you've had previous Unix experience. Go for it. -JCJ
