this would explain why big carriers are adopting ATM and IP+ATM.
For all IP optical network( some vendors with heavy legacy of routers are dreaming about it....) we need
huge excessive pipe where lack of IP QoS will
not matter.
Yes, some day IP will get QoS, but at the same time will gain complexity.
If IP can get QoS and still can be as simple as it is now,
then it would be valuable proposition for real world networks with QoS
(video, voice etc).
IP was design originally to carry only data.
Since excess of bandwidth will not happen soon..............
