"Lets say Elastic has a "successful" IPO this fall....can anyone speculate on how this IPO would translate into the share value of ITE?....given that its been hovering at under a dollar for a while now."

Maurice, if you read back through the messages you'll see that there's been a serious attempt to predict the impact of Elastic's IPO on the stock price. We've got two schools of thought expressed so far:

1. ITE will move up in value based upon some multiple of projected EPS realized from their investment in Elastic.

2. ITE will trade at some discount (about 25% in the current market) of total portfolio value.

Market sentiment is definitely a major variable, and it is sure looking better now than a few weeks ago. I'm betting that most of today's move was a delayed mirroring of what's happening on the NASDAQ. The IPO market is strengthening for quality offerings. If that strength is sustained, ITE may move up nicely in anticipation of the IPO. My GUESS is that we'll see significant (but volatile) appreciation as the IPO approaches. It is also possible that another announcement will be issued regarding more IPO's for ITE holdings. If that happens in conjunction with an improving market, ITE may surprise all of us.

Good Luck.
