I was not following rambus news so missed the nec bit Memory Makers May File Antitrust Suit Again Rambus, Report Says - 7/10/0 21:39 (New York) Seoul, July 11 (Bloomberg) -- Computer memory chipmakers are planning to file an antitrust complaint against Rambus Inc. to the Federal Trade Commission to prevent the Mountain View, California-based company from trying to enforce patents it holds on some chip technology, the Electronic Buyer's News reported, without citing sources or naming specific companies. The report said the companies will lodge the complaint to prevent Rambus from bringing legal action against them in order to force agreements similar to royalty payment pacts signed by Toshiba Corp. and Hitachi Ltd. The report said the memory chipmakers are now holding meetings and will decide within the next two weeks whether to take legal action. NEC Corp., Japan's largest memory chipmaker, has stopped making 128-megabit Rambus dynamic random access memory chips, which are used in personal computers, due to lack of demand, the Nihon Keizai newspaper reported today.
