Sam, there seems to be some action coming out of MOT regarding selling FWB, which could/should translate into OEM sales for Netro. Don't know why it went down today. Did you buy? ;)

AT&T, Motorola to team for data and voice services REDMOND, Wash., July 13 (Reuters) - Wireless phone services company AT&T Wireless Group Inc. (NYSE:AWE - news) and telephone equipment maker Motorola Inc. (NYSE:MOT - news) said on Thursday they would team up to bring high-speed data and voice services to homes and small businesses worldwide.
The ``always on'' high-speed service will use fixed wireless technology, which transmits voice and high-speed data using radio signals rather than fiber-optic cables or traditional telephone wires.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Under a recent agreement, the companies will develop, testand license AT&T Wireless' patented fixed wireless digital broadband technology known as Project Angel. Motorola will receive a temporary license to supply equipment to local service providers outside the United States. The companies said they would announce the trial locations in the third quarter.
In a statement, the companies estimated that hundreds of millions of households and small businesses outside the United States pay per-minute rates for standard-speed Internet access, as opposed to their planned flat-rate, all-you-can use, high-speed service.
Within the United States, AT&T said it would offer the service, marketed as AT&T Digital Broadband, at significant discounts off that of incumbent local service providers. The telecommunications company launched commercial service in Fort Worth, Tex., in March and expects services to be available to more than 15 million households by the end of 2002. |
