If you're asking me, I'm shaking my head at it myself. I never understood real well how CTXS could DIRECTLY help MSFT rollout TSE(or whatever it is called now) for Win2000 and say they are not competitors

Mike,

There was a stress testing study done by either Network world or ZDnet. In it, it found the Citrix scaled far better than Window 2000.

The logic Citrix probably is using is this:

1) Microsoft is going to move into this area anyway. Do we want to be their friend or their foe.

2) Might was well get some money helping the build Microsoft's product and ensure that it doesn't break our products (Microsoft is famous for doing this).

3) Microsoft putting this technology allows us to get out of the business of modifying the OS (i.e. cheaper to make)

4) Let Microsoft make $$$ selling the concept and base system and we can come in an upsell them since Citrix's solution is more efficient and scalable. In that manner, we both make money.

5) We want to move into other potentially more lucrative market segment anyway (like embedded and telecomm).
