"This is stuff marketeers put in their Power Point slides."

elmatador- Funny stuff! Never never heard it described so well.<vbg>

IMHO, mobile wireless Internet access is overheated in this country also. But what do you make of the palm computers, handheld, or whatever the vendor tags them. I spent a few hours in Circuit City last week checking out a couple of them, mainly Microsoft CE products. While standing there playing with the devices, it was a non-stop line of customers coming by raving about the 3Com Palm Pilot, which I thought was interesting in itself.

Anyhow, I was simply blown away at how far they have advanced in the last year and a half. I would say those screens are about two to three times larger than a mobile phone screen and you can load books on them via Microsoft Reader software. And it actually works because I was reading off of it. There was also one with a tiny keyboard that you could actually type on. Again, I know because I opened up PocketWord and was typing away. And finally, they also serve as MP3 players. Simply amazing little devices.

Then again, the palm computers are not what you are talking about. You mean the mobile phone as an all-in-one device. It's coming to the point where even when talking about, "mobile wireless access," we have to break it down one more step and say, "mobile phone wireless access."

Thanks for your comments and hope all is well in central Europe. -MikeM(From Florida)
