Heeren- You're correct about the head-head comparisons. But it still just sits funny with me about them DIRECTLY helping MSFT build a product to compete with CTXS. Maybe, as CTXS probably feels, better to get close to the enemy, than fight.
Of course hindsight is 20-20, but I'm wondering if it has been a mistake to help them out to the extent they have? I'm guessing there hasn't been one lead turned over to any CTXS reseller, coming out of Redmond. IMHO, MSFT did not even come close to holding up their end of the bargain with the joint marketing agreement. I guess, the reports I have read in the trade magazines verified this.
It was like MSFT was benefiting off the CTXS technological help, yet they gave NOTHING in return. Just a half-hearted attempt to push thin-client computing, sans any mention of MetaFrame. At least that is what I read. Only the CTXS re-sellers could verify, but I'm can't blame them if they don't publicly.
And, of course in 20-20 hindsight, putting your troops in the MSFT camp, pretty much kills any type of legal remedy that CTXS could ever hope to obtain.
Maybe since the cap on CTXS is reasonable, there is a slim chance MSFT will just throw in the towel and buy CTXS? Otherwise, this dance is getting old. -MikeM(From Florida) |
