Well did I miss the big announcement?? I thought there was going to be a great fanfare around new pricing and marketing campaigne?? Seems to have escaped the headlines. Although I'm thrilled by last weeks stock and bond run-up, I can't attribute it to any fundamental improvement in the business or future prospects. Must be short covering; and if no news on the sub. rate or future finances or new partnerships is released I expect us to return to 6-7 in the near term. There's plenty of rumors but here's what we know:

1. the system continues to perform well
2. Customer testimonials seem to be positive.
3. we have financing till 1Q '01 but more will be needed
4. commercial launch of Russia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Carribean should happen soon, but are already late in some respects.
5. Phone prices from some small distributors have fallen
6. Data, internet, fax capability is coming but its uncertain as to when.
7. There has been tepid marketing response from Verizon.
8. A couple of projects (IFN & Mexican gas stations) have been announced but timing and size of units is questionable
9. Peru gateway is the only one that has been put into service this quarter.
10. There has probably been about 80K-100k phones manufactured.
Nothing listed above gives me great confidence that things are going well or that we've turned the corner. Only subscriber MOUs will reflect that and I'm not so sure they will be all that positive when released in Aug. Yes I'm hopefull but these crazy stock price swings aren't the indication we need to inspire confidence that G* will be a home run (or base hit for that matter). Anyone have a different perspective???
