Dear Friends of Edwarda,
I didn't know Edwarda or any of you, so I had intended to post only a single sentence of condolence. But the anguish so many of you feel at her passing has brought to my mind a transforming moment that happened after my father's death. A few months later my mother had a dream that he was driving around heaven in a big Cadillac with a smile on his face. This image so amused us that we have held onto it and it brings us joy whenever we think of him.
Thanks to the vivid portrait of Edwarda so many of you have created on this thread, I felt like I knew her and I started to picture her in heaven. I hope what I've written will give you comfort and a smile.

But if you don't like it and feel that I had no right, please don't flood ny inbox with a bunch of angry PMs. Edwarda wouldn't do that.

Trish

Lets see now, it's cocktail time here on the West Coast. Could it be the same in celestial time?

AN ODE TO EDWARDA ON HER FIFTH EVENING IN HEAVEN

Cocktail hour and it's no fluke
She sips martinis with Bernard Baruch
So many saints she can't keep score
A smooch for you Jesse Livermore
Look! On the edge of a platter of blinis
A dozen tiny angels scalp eighths and teenies

At dinner she sits at the Lord's right hand
She serves him her kielbasa
He drinks red wine and starts to opine
'Cause stock tips he's got lotsa
Like when the Naz will hit ten thousand
It's Fatima's fourth secret
She cannot tell her earthbound friends
He fears they cannot keep it

The hour grows late, night's curtain falls
Upon this day of perfect grace
The Lord calls forth Saint Christopher
To ferry Edwarda to her place
A cottage of such charm and beauty
It seems like a mirage
Sweet cherubs tend her winged bull
Asleep in the garage

Be not shy you hunky saint
Come step into my bower
By candle light and moonbeams faint
We'll trade the after hour
And when dawn's warm pre-market glow
Puts out the final candle
May cherubs pour our morning joe
In jewelled cup with handle

Come now all ye Seraphim
Sing out all ye Cherubim
Heaven and earth resound the hymn

EDWARDA'S HEAVEN'S DARLING
WE'RE ADDICTED TO LOVE
EDWARDA'S HEAVEN'S DARLING
WE'RE ADDICTED TO LOVE
ADDICTED TO LOVE
ADDICTED TO LOVE

All cyberfriends, come now rejoice
Although you are worlds apart
She sends you PMs every day
You can read them, go there now
They're in the inbox of your heart"""""""
