I'm not a grocery shopper at all... The only parts of shopping that make it at all bearable are....

*the produce department where I sometimes just "hang around" in winter when I feel a serious bout of SAD setting in. Makes me feel good to stand around looking at leafy greens and fresh radishes with leaves, and leeks, and asparagus... There's different lighting in the produce department too... more like sunlight... or slightly green light... or some rays that make everything look more verdant... I can linger there for...hmmm... the better part of a half hour.... ask Mr. Croc... He just leaves me there wandering around selecting small quantities of choice fruits and veggies while he does the rest of the grocery order...

*the shopping carts which push through the store...seeing just how quickly I can get everything that I need... I try to turn pushing the cart into an art form... like driving a slinky car down a winding road... People become...obstacles...like pylons on a test track.... That's why I like carts with good wheels...and intact pushbars... Nothing in the world as depressing as some slightly bent cart with squared off wheels that bump and thunk along... and eeeeekkk!!! the worst is when you get a cart that has a front wheel that turns and then locks up sideways and skids... Arrrrrghh!!! I don't care what I've already got in my cart... If that happens, it's back to the "pit stop" to get another cart and carry out a materials transfer...

*the memory game of shopping without a list... I never take a list. I like to keep my memory sharp by just memorizing what I'll need and then going to the store and trying not to forget anything... Makes the trip faster... no reliance on visual checking... it's all in my head so I can cruise at supersonic speed as I quickly toss things into my cart...

And yes... I know... all of this sounds sort of pathetic... but it works for me...
