I read in yesterday's IHT that Germany has passed a new tax bill that is being hailed as the cure to the "German disease". iht.com It may or not actually be that cure, but the perception is there. One feature of the law: ...the elimination of a tax on the sale of corporate shareholdings... I also read that the tech-heavy Neuer Markt is down 40% over the last 4 months. iht.com I would guess that there would be money to be made on a selection of the stronger Neuer Markt stocks, or even on a good German tech fund. Unfortunately, I know very little about the German market and haven't the time to do the research, so I will probably do nothing. Judging from past precedent, if I spot a potential opportunity and do nothing the opportunity will turn out to yield spectacular returns for all who participated. Fair warning....
