A year ago I went roaming around the Irwin and Joan Jacobs school of engineering in San Diego University and ranted here [or in one of the Q! streams] about photonics going to come busting out into the telecosm.

Well, here it comes! SDL Incorporated biz.yahoo.com

A 100 bagger, heading for a 200 bagger over a couple of years.

That's all grist for the CDMA mill because G! and Q! benefit from such technologies which deliver the Web right up to the air interface in bulk and at low cost.

Q! CDMA will then deliver this huge data ocean via HDR and subsequent technologies from smart antennae and high-powered ASICs to subscribers' CDMA handsets anywhere they might be.

Globalstar will win more than other cellphone providers from such developments because they have got strong need for such technology to tame the huge distances involved in satellites and they are the only high-quality supplier to remote locations. GEOs and other systems have latency, TDMA or other problems. Globalstar has a monopoly on Q! technology in space.

PS: On storing H2 in solid form, <ENER does indeed have a way of storing hydrogen in solid state, which could be a boon. The President of one of the competitors to your former stomping grounds says so.>

At what cost? I suspect expensive! That's one of those situations where the best technology is NOT in fact the best if cost is accounted for. Also, note that Texaco Canada Limited in Ottawa was my training ground in the oil industry - BP Oil and Castrol were competitors, later to become employers.
