hi Frank, a couple of months ago you asked what type of fiber Telergy is deploying. The press release below answers that question.
I have done some reading of the Prospectus and have decided against investing in the company. I think "Bucket Shop" is the correct term.

Telergy to Deploy Corning MetroCor Fiber for Northeast Build Business Wire - June 07, 2000 16:11
CORNING, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2000--Telergy Inc., a facilities-based provider of integrated broadband telecommunications services in the Northeastern United States, announced today that it plans to deploy Corning(R)MetroCor(TM)fiber, Corning Incorporated's (NYSE: GLW) newest optical fiber innovation, created specifically for metropolitan and regional applications.
MetroCor fiber was created to help reduce cost in metropolitan and regional networks by eliminating the need for dispersion compensation, using less expensive opto-electronics, and reducing the amount of amplification needed along the network path. The extended reach of MetroCor fiber is three times greater than that of standard single-mode fiber. MetroCor fiber directly addresses the high growth rate that metropolitan areas are experiencing and helps to reduce network complexity and make networks more reliable.
According to Brian Kelly, Chairman and CEO of Telergy Inc., "Our network is designed to serve customers with various bandwidth requirements and to deliver the highest quality-enhanced services. By deploying MetroCor fiber in our network, we expect to meet these bandwidth needs while our network performance and integrity improves. We believe that these benefits will provide a distinct advantage to our customers."
Roger G. Ackerman, Chairman and CEO of Corning Incorporated, added, "It is an outstanding vote of confidence for our product that Telergy has selected MetroCor fiber for deployment in its own headquarters in Syracuse, New York. The fact that both the Corning Incorporated headquarters and the Telergy Inc. headquarters are located in New York State, where the MetroCor fiber network will be initiated, is truly exciting."
Telergy is the fourth customer for MetroCor fiber following Williams, Carrier1, and LightSpeed since its introduction on March 1. MetroCor fiber is G.655-compliant, single-mode non-zero dispersion-shifted optical fiber that operates across the entire useable bandwidth from 1280nm to 1625nm.
Founded and headquartered in Syracuse, New York, Telergy is a facilities based provider of integrated broadband telecommunications services and high-bandwidth fiber optic capacity in the northeastern United States. |
