JC - This is not hard. CPQ makes a consumer product which is designed to do the things most consumers want, out of the box. It is not designed as a general purpose system - it is at the opposite end of the spectrum from that. Why does CPQ do that? BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT CONSUMER CUSTOMERS WANT AND WILL PAY FOR. CPQ is not a charitable institution, they go where the money is.

If you would like Merry to have a good Linux experience, PLEASE don't suggest that she try and run Linux on a Presario - you would be introducing her to a lot of pain. Buy a DeskPro, buy a CPQ Workstation, buy a DELL Dimension...

By the way your bias is showing rather badly. I was pointing out why the Presario is a bad choice for Linux, since it is the ONLY machine that CPQ produces which does not support Linux...
