JC - having tried to install Linux on a Presario I found out the hard way. WinModem, DSL modem, sound card, video card - if I got one working the others crapped out. I could care less about a warranty and never even asked, but just on a basic hardware basis it was just about impossible.

Nicholas Petreley tried the same thing on a Presario notebook with similar results, although by replacing the WinModem and some other tricks he eventually got it working.

I'm not sure what your point is as far as the Presario warranty goes, installing an OS that is not supported seems like an OK reason to void the warranty to me.
