Jay King: Suggest that the "killer ap" will be easy and rapid wireless access to the internet while mobile - i.e. Samsung's 1xEV using Qualcomm's technology next year.

At a rate of over 5Mbps using current CDMAOne spectrum the need for new spectrum is less.

But if 5Mhz is available, Samsung can hit a speed of 15Mbps for data access to the internet - i,e. this thread on SI.

So access to you and the rest of us here from the beach or where-ever is a killer ap (though why anyone would do that is a question, no? chuckle)
