I've never shorted a stock before, so I don't know a thing about it. Although, I have to say with the way my stocks have done of late, I should have shorted some of them rather than 'longed' them.

If I WERE to short BRCM, I think I'd look for a dramatic spike up to say, $300/share, then short it and wait for it to drop back down to its present level.

Every once in awhile, you look at the daily chart for a stock and see a huge price fluctuation for a day somewhere in there.

You also see stocks sometimes take a huge dip temporarily, too, so placing a buy at a price like $180 for BRCM might yield quick results.
