I'm sure that by now all of the 3G cognoscenti have seen the recent announcement indicating that the Japanese Patent Office had upheld QCOM's critical spread spectrum patent in litigation involving NOK, NTT and ERICY.

My question is a simple one: I was under the impression that QCOM and ERICY had settled all of their pending patent disputes last year. Can any one tell me why the litigation was still pending?
