I was sort of recruited only once, when I was a summer student studying French at Columbia University. A group of women was approaching selected passers-by. I don't recall what they said to me. Whatever it was, I didn't know what they meant because the guy I was walking with, who was a regular student there, had to explain to me what had happened after we had gotten a few feet down the path. Of course, there could have been other subtle approaches and I just missed them. <g>

A while back, a friend was telling me his plans to attend some gay pride event and that he would be attending with his son, a college student who had recently concluded that he was, indeed, gay. My response to him was that I was sorry, given how much more difficult that makes life, but that the son was fortunate to have a father who understood him. We talked a bit. My sense was that the father's sentiment was not unlike mine. It's sad that some people feel compelled to make things even tougher.

P.S. edit. I just remembered that it when I was at Columbia, I was also recruited to work at the Playboy Club. Just wanted to be sure to give equal time. <g>
