Paul, you're right -- sometimes a rising wedge can break out over the top and that is super bullish. Also, sometimes price can move above or below a pattern and then reverse quickly.

I'm not sure about the COMPQ. I'm having a little trouble drawing a rising wedge on it. Also, I can't tell if its in wave 3 up or wave 5up. If its in wave 3, then it could go much higher.

I've been stalking the OEX all day. Looking for an entry point to buy puts. Everytime I think I'm about to get a sell signal, the OEX backs off a little and then charges ahead. I though I had a good sell signal at about 2:00 p.m. ET, but I didn't take it. I'm a little leery about the CPI tomorrow. The market might rally on the CPI and that may turn out to be the best time to buy puts.

I think the best thing to do is to sit an wait for a clear signal.
