By Andy Georgiades

TORONTO (Dow Jones)--QLT Inc. (QLTI) received its second analyst downgrade
in
less than a week on Monday.
Carol Werther, analyst at Adams, Harkness & Hill, said in a research note
that certain "reimbursement issues" surrounding the company's Visudyne
product
were responsible for her downgrading the stock to "market perform" from
"strong
buy." She also reduced the worldwide sales estimates for fiscal 2000 to $75
miillion from $105 million.
Last Thursday, HCFP Brenner Securities analyst Sam Gerszonowicz lowered QLT
to "neutral" from "buy" in anticipation of increased competition.
In Monday trading, QLT is down 9.70, or 11%, to 78.60 in Toronto and is
down
5 7/8, or 10%, to 53 on Nasdaq. The low for the day is 73.70 in Toronto and
49
5/8 on Nasdaq.
