Mike,
Hi!!

It really fascinates me to read these interviews...I learn so much from them...Or should I say much is reinforced...
Let's take this quote:
"To me, this is real simple. We took the desktop. We've now taken back the portable business. We took workstations. Now the big opportunity is servers and storage. That's it. If we just do what we gotta do, we'll get to $70 billion." (by the end of 2003 ).

NOTE: This does not include service!

Ok it comes from Mort...Now, let's add what Jim Schneider mentioned awhile back ...You remember? The 10% of a trillion dollar market...."Imagine just being 10%..."when adding all these together" (hardware, service etc...)...Hey, Mike we're talking an extended market that includes service right? Now take this quote: where Jim Vanderslice is talking about Kevin Rollins: "Q: What does Kevin bring to this three-in-a-box structure?
A: Kevin is very analytical. He likes to study the numbers, figure out from a market point of view the opportunities."
Mike....Here's what I'm driving at..Ask Sig what he configured for DELL service in the future after Kevin's comments last summer concerning this area...
:o) :o) :o)

Remember...It's for sale! And, it's a mighty big "umbrella" that Kevin is taking about cutting into...I know of one situation where IBM already lost a huge chunk of service to DELL...
:o)

Thanks for all the wonderful articles Mike...Good job on the homework...It's appreciated...

Best, kemble
