Jack -

The definiton of "Supercomputers" is a constantly changing one. As technology improves, the performance of all computers pushes into higher territories.

My guess (I don't have access to the data and I frankly don't remember) is that a Pentium Pro/200 MHZ compares quite favorably with the Cray Supercomputers of the 1970s and early 1980s.

At least there are a helluva lot more software programs for today's PCs than there are for the "Supercomputers".

By the way, as an Intel enthusiast, I am sure you are aware of the highly regarded "Supercomputers" deisgned and manufactured by Intel's Personal Supercomputer division. All based on Intel Chips, of course.
