Arun's arguments made a lot more sense in that JDSU is a good buy right now---thanks to its underperformance of late due to deal making.

People are hyperreactive in the market these days, so acquisitions can quickly pummel a stock. JDS took the SDL hit right after all the ETEK dudes dumped shares on the market, so JDS was already weak. Then it got really cheap at 95. Certain people seemed incapable of understanding basic English words like accretive and how that mysterious word, when attached to the hottest name in fiber optics, could be a good thing for JDS.* Day by day, that perception is changing. Issue is now back to its pre-SDLI-announcement price. Nice 20-point rise from the dip, but so far, it's just been getting out of a hole. Now it'd be nice to see it climb to new highs. That will be especially good for SDLI shareholders. Spread continues to narrow, closing today at under 12% for the first time.

* For perspective: The second-tier names that have risen in the deal's wake--names like NUFO--are sure as hell not going to be "accretive" to any potential big-boy acquirer. Look for emphasis on "strategic" there--all the acquisition candidates that are still in play are sloppy seconds compared to what JDS is getting in SDL. JMHO
