Nokia provides an intriguing view of the 3G future in a presentation archive on their web site entitled Nokia 3G Business Case Seminar. The link is:

nokia.com

Slides 2 and 50 are especially intriguing. Slide 2 shows their view of the evolution of radio standards. (1) they show both CDMSOne and CDMA2000-1x evolving into WCDMA, as well as CDMA2000-3x and HDR. (2) They show CDMA2000-1x also evolving into 1XTREME, which, as I recall is a new joint proposal from Nokia and Motorola.

Slide 50 defines new geographical market opportunities for Nokia. It lists EDGE, WCDMA and 1XTREME for the Americas; WCDMA for Korea; EDGE and WCDMA elsewhere. No mention of CDMA2000 or HDR.

More later. Sisuman
