re >>Bull Marks Industry First by Successfully Porting 64-Bit UNIX Operating System from Project Monterey to an 8-Way Itanium Server<<

Glad to hear about the Intel connection but Bull brings back some memories for me. My company, Honeywell, used to own Bull before Mitterand nationalized it in the eighties.

Fortunately, the French thought it was worth more than we did and compensated us handsomely for it. Subsequently, when Honeywell exited the computer business in the states, Bull was looking to establish a U.S. presence and voila.

Leave it to the French to arrogantly assume they can turn an American business around, ala American Motors. I must admit Honeywell's performance in computers was equally abysmal.

I audited their small computer products division in Lawrence Massachusetts and Milan Italy and would be hard pressed to identify a poorer run operation. To add a touch of marketing genius the French stuck with the name "Bull". Maybe it's a sign of strength over there. Here, it just smells strong.

Regards,

Greg
