tip, thanks...obviously you know what's what with power generation - i have been warned already...-g-

i hold some coal stocks, so i sure hope that coal will have its day in the sun again. the differentiation between 'baseload' and peak demand power generation was news to me - i was thinking of the whole issue in simpler terms, i.e. environmentally suspect power generation being phased out and being replaced by 'clean' generation.

personally i believe that in spite of all the misgivings surrounding it, nuclear power is probably the only really feasible long term solution.

re. winter shortages of NG and HO, you may well be right there - i.e. supply shortages will occur regardless of economic conditions.
