DataMirror High Availability Suite(TM) Version 3.5 Delivers Enhanced Support For 7/24 e-Business
TORONTO, CANADA--New Features and Functionality Enhance e-Business Resiliency and Availability
DataMirror Corporation (TSE: DMC), a leading provider of enterprise-wide data replication, replenishment and resiliency software, announced today a new version of its award-winning High Availability Suite product. High Availability Suite Version 3.5, scheduled for general availability on August 29, 2000, represents a breakthrough in performance, ease of use and resiliency for e-business implementations.
DataMirror High Availability Suite Version 3.5 is the first and only AS/400 high availability solution to utilize state-of-the-art byte stream file recording introduced into the OS/400 operating system by IBM. Support for byte stream file recording allows High Availability Suite to manage the underlying Integrated File System (IFS) requirements of business applications and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. The Integrated File System lets the user support stream input/output and storage management similar to personal computer and UNIX operating systems, while providing structure for all information stored in the AS/400. IFS support is especially beneficial for e-business implementations because many types of web page objects are typically stored under the Integrated File System, making it a crucial and integral part of any e-business.
With High Availability Suite's byte stream file support, users can now mirror their large IFS files in real-time to ensure that AS/400 web servers and e-commerce sites are thoroughly backed up and resilient 7/24. "It is extremely exciting to be the first and only AS/400 High Availability Solution Provider to support real-time IFS mirroring through byte stream file recording," said Kirk Dixon, Executive Vice President, Development and Support for DataMirror. "This represents a significant advancement in AS/400 high availability product offerings, and complements IBM's support of IFS in its OS/400 operating system."
In addition to the breakthrough performance of DataMirror's XtremeCache(TM) technology and the unique synchronization properties of Match/Merge architecture, High Availability Suite Version 3.5 also includes auto-tuning. This new performance enhancement is designed to automatically optimize High Availability Suite to ensure maximum performance for all data and object mirroring between the primary and recovery systems. Version 3.5 also includes a number of operational usability enhancements such as the ability to invoke external alarms and alerts based on conditional events, and features an enhanced simplified interface for ease of use and administration of the entire high availability environment.
"As more and more customers implement data-rich e-business and customer-facing applications on the IBM AS/400 platform, high availability and data resiliency become paramount," said Nigel Stokes, Chairman, President and CEO of DataMirror Corporation. "This new version of High Availability Suite includes enhanced features and functionality directed specifically towards e-Business environments. DataMirror is the first and only AS/400 high availability vendor to take advantage of IBM's byte stream file recording support to ensure unprecedented levels of data resiliency. High Availability Suite Version 3.5 will make it even easier for Internet companies and traditional bricks and mortar organizations to ensure continuous 7/24 business operations."
