Karen, here is his reasoning process:

(1) Somewhere in the world a law was passed specifying increased penalties for murdering someone due to their sexual inclinations.

(2) It is within the realm of possibility that the law could be interpreted as valuing a homosexual's life higher than a heterosexual.

(2) The fact that such a law was passed somewhere in the world, and the fact that it is within the realm of possibility to interpret the law as placing a higher value on the lives of homosexuals, means that everyone, everywhere, who doesn't have a problem with homosexuals values a homosexual's life higher than a heterosexual's life.
