I think you might be right! I have seen sooooooo many pennystocks lately that have dropped substantially before a run-up. The MMs are calling the shots much of the time. If the MMs can get people scared, they can get people to dump their shares at cheap prices. Then the MMs make MUCH MORE in a run-up. It's a strategy! I think it completely intentional.

It will continue to happen as long as people take the bait. But it does create an excellent buying opportunity if the stock is solid. You know you can't keep a good stock down. The MMs know this as well. They're just in a position to CREATE their own "super-discounted" buys simply by dropping the price and scaring people into selling cheap. Sad, unethical, immoral. But I guess there will always be people that prey on the unsuspecting.
