Master,

I have been a probation officer, a foster care worker, a protective service worker, and I worked with the elderly and deinstitutionalized in the 70s. My degrees are in psychology, music and theatre. I have no advanced degrees in the fields of genetics and so am not qualified to speak to your questions. Any knowledge I have in these areas comes from experience (and is thus anecdotal) and personal reading and I haven't kept up with the literature at all.

Because anger and the triggering of it are related to hormone levels, I would suspect a strong genetic component that would be exacerbated by environmental factors. Studies have shown that abusers often come from abusive homes. But the factors - economic, genetic, educational, parental- all would provide such a complex stew, I'm not sure we can sort it out here. IMO, regardless of genetic or environmental reasons, there is never an excuse for abusing a spouse of child.
It's a very complex topic and I am not qualified to answer your questions. You could research it on the net- I';m sure there is a lot written about this.
