Can anyone explain to me why a company would report Pro Forma earnings? I know that Pro Forma excludes amortization and acqusistion charges, but does MSFT report Pro Forma? Or INTC, YHOO, or AOL?

Seems to me that Pro Forma earnings are nice, but in reality they lost .33 cents a share.

Feeling very Curmudgeonly this morning as I watch GNET down 5 after blow out "Pro Forma" earnings. Harumph.
