Nokia to supply GPRS system to Italian Blu

HELSINKI, July 18 (Reuters) - Finnish telecom equipment maker Nokia (NYSE:NOK - news) said on Tuesday it would supply its General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) system to Italian network operator Blu for an undisclosed sum.

Nokia said in a statement the deal, which would enable Blu to offer mobile Internet services based on WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) and GPRS technologies to its customers, was part of a larger agreement, but not an exclusive relationship between the two companies.

Nokia would also supply Blu with its WAP-compatible 7110 phones and its WAP gateway solution, it added.

Blu is a consortium including Autostrade , BNL and others.
