This is the text of the e-mail I sent my US Senators, Rick Santorum and Arlen Spector, along with the text of the two press releases announcing and retracting the award.

----------

Yesterday I saw a press release (below) that announced that "Loral Space & Communications today received the Defense Department's highest award for safeguarding national security information." Today, Reuters announced this award has been rescinded because of an ongoing investigation into their connection with a three year old case where some information was given to the Chinese.

Don't these guys talk to one another? It's not like this investigation was any secret.

Anyone who is familiar with the facts of the case -- at least those who are not carrying a terrible political torch against anyone who has the temerity to give money to the Democrats as Loral's Bernard Schwartz has -- knows the case against Loral is somewhere between bogus and trivial. I am not saying national security is not important, but Loral is not the bad guy here if there is one. Even the Cox report was unable to find anything substantive against Loral.

I would appreciate you asking one of your staff to look into this matter of the award. In its several incarnations over several decades, Loral has been a stalwart supporter of the United States and its defense.

Thank you.
