I am fascinated by the fact that much of the commentary I read about the market and the economy completely ignores the impact of the wealth effect upon consumer spending and Fed policy. With the recent rebound on Wall Street the Wilshire 5000 -- said to be closely watched by Greenspan -- is down only about 5% from its peak and is far above year-earlier levels.
