Good on-topic reading here i bet - lonelyplanet.com When we go south we always take extra volumes of Lonely Planets for the locals, there is always a youth eager to learn english, and their books are so full of useful organised detail that even a local can learn something about their own and adjacent areas ... as well as the perspective in which they are seen by the world [or at least the writers of the books anyway, lol] .... i see their book prices have tripled in a decade, though ... but they are really well done, and can save a backpacker tremendous amounts of time and money ... they're heavy, though, you don't want to carry six of them around.
