A friend is well known as a teacher in our area, so well known that no one [including myself unless i look it up] knows his name, he is called simply Profe X ... X being the shortened version of his name, not his apellido ... we share two strong interests, in education of the young and in drinking of the beer ... one time i happened to have a Lonely Planet book that had been given me by a danish girl who wanted to reduce pack weight, and i traded it to the son of Profe X for some old textbooks of his ... well the thing stimulated a lot of interest, and invigorated a whole class ... so since then i've taken several ... they have a general one on México and one on La Ruta Maya ... a lot of english has been learned, and within two years we will have the first graduate from university, who is fairly capable in english and has learned some german and japanese as well, and plans to continue studies in Japan if possible, an effort to which i will contribute cash.

Also i pass around a little Berlitz phrasebook, 'Inglés norteamericano', ISBN 2-8315-5076-9, if you buy a dozen you can get them for around 7.00 canadian, and a dozen weighs less than one kilo ... printed in Spain, the spanish is a little odd at times, but you can't find a better present for an academic twelve-year-old, for the weight.
