I am also an experienced hedger, have read Don Abrams book and been to a couple of his seminars. I primarily use US debentures for hedge positions (favorite right now Eagle Hardware), although I am also running a hedge with Horsham(Trizac Haln) (only writing calls, not shorting the barrick yet, will if my calls expire in the money). I am finding it very hard to find good positions in the last year with the market up so much and interest rates down.

Comments re commissions.
I use full service and discount brokers depending on the type of position, although usually discount much cheaper.
Advantages:
Full service- Will let you put the cash from the short into your account and charge a nominal rental fee (approx 1.5% per year).

Discount-cheap, bonds typically $5 per bond, stock $25-50 a trade, so I can make money on $2 swings.

I can go on and on if anyone is interested, E-Mail me or post here.
