Silicon Investor in my opinion even with the latest software debacle is the best message board interface I have seen on the web to date. However, we all know the guts or real draw of any message board is the folks that populate the board. Most importantly to any message board are those that share their hard work and due diligence with the public on these boards. The strange thing about these message boards is that not only do we contribute our hard work for free, many of us have paid for the privilege to give away or share our hard work and due diligence. Of course the pay back is we benefit from each other’s work, but let us not forget that SI also benefits from our work in a very big way.
Silicon Investor Administration and I have reached an impasse over what I consider to be a very important point of contention, thread Title and Header protection. Over the past couple of months over eight MDD COPYCAT threads have been started in an effort to get back at me by various individuals on SI. Initially SI Admin (Bob) was supportive on this point and removed five of the first six. However, SI Bob has since changed his position and will no longer remove the COPYCAT threads. I have argued my case with SI Admin and I have lost. I think the decision to offer more support to the septic sludge of SI rather than to those that work hard to build and maintain quality threads on SI is a poor business decision, but it is their decision to make.
I will now exercise the only real option I feel I have left in response to the SI Admin decision, I will no longer post my work and due diligence on the Silicon Investor Message Board.
I am not saying I will not from time to time post on SI as I have a life time membership and will continue to use it. I will just not post my work on SI again. In addition, I will continue to moderate this, the ORIGINAL MDD THREAD.
I am in the process of taking some time off. In a couple of weeks I will resume updating the charts on my web site MDA - Market Direction Analysis. In addition, I will once again begin to post my take on market direction on my commentary page complete with chart links. In a couple of months the construction a professional web site to replace the current one will begin. The new web site will likely include stock picks as well. I will build it with the ability to include contributors as I did with the original MDA web site. This will allow each contributor access to his or her own area of the web site to update.
I will no longer post my chart or commentary update announcements on this thread. Instead, I will be sending out e-mail announcements. If you are interested in being on the e-mail list, send me your email address. Please, DO NOT send me your e-mail address via p-mail on SI.
I am also negotiating to establishing a new user moderated Thread on another Message Board. Before I do this, I will reach an agreement with the new message board that they will HONOR the hard work and effort it takes to develop and maintain a quality thread by committing to give some exclusivity to the Title and Header of the new thread. If I can not manage such an agreement, I will likely just invest in the programming to add a message board to the new, to be constructed, professional MDA web site.
You can find a link to my web site in my SI profile. From my web site you can e-mail me to get on my web site e-mail update notification list and also gain access to the new message board once established. I look forward to seeing you there, including those of you that have lurked for months or years, but chose not to join SI. (The new thread will have free access.)
In closing, I want to thank each and every one of you that have honored the thread guidelines of the ORIGINAL MDD THREAD over the past 19+ months and have selflessly contributed your hard work and due diligence to the success of the thread.
You each have my gratitude and respect. Good luck and good trading to you all...
Sincerely, LG |
