"In most loose knit groups leadership is acknowledged and granted to those who do the best job of serving the group's purpose."

Most definitely, as Downsouth provides here. As Unclewest provides with our CREE, and M. Buckley does with our SEBL.

Indeed, individual stock threads tend to be much more loosely knit where individual's contributions are valued or dismissed without regard to a philosophic approach to investing or group thought process.

Consequently, I am weary and wary of the G & Kers approach to "policing of the thread" and protecting the "thread elders" coming to individual stock threads that have done fine on their own for years.

There is no "theme" with an individual stock thread, posts aren't inappropriate other than the value of the content or tone. There is no manual to be read or stock selection criteria to be followed. As DownSouth has done, if someone is offensive, they can be ignored. I think that he handled this quite adroitly without name calling and lecturing.
