I have just had several thoughts flash by me, but it is so late, -- it seems to me that this is not about conditions of a country (as Elian's case was and so many others would be) but a specific home situation that placed his health and safety in serious jeopardy. I believe in that case we should proceed with caution on returning him to the grandparents.
I'm unclear about the Thai governemnt's position on this... how involved are they in investigating the situation? What are they offering? Seems like I read that they were willing to pay for his care here- but I'm REALLY vague on that...will look tomorrow when my eyes are open.
