<<<<Personally, who else would qualify to give birth to the Son of God, than a virgin chosen by God?>>>>

You are right, absolutely nobody!

The entire Old Testament from Genesis to Malachi talks about bringing acceptable sacrifices to God. All those countless sacrifices relate and point to one thing....Jesus Christ! The lamb of God. As those sacrifices in the pages of scripture were to have no blemish Jesus also had to be unmarred by sin.

Had he not been born of a virgin birth Jesus would have inherited Adam's fallen nature and could not have fulfilled his mission as the sinless sacrifice. After all, any sacrifice which was blemished was an abomination to God.

The priest's duty was to acknowledge the transfering of the sins of the people upon the sacrifice just before it was offered up. In a like manner as Jesus hung upon the cross he had the sins of his people placed upon him. It was at that time that God had to turn his face from him because he is holy and cannot look upon sin. But glory to God, afterwards! Jesus rose from the dead, conquered death, and stands ready to forgive!

NO VIRGIN BIRTH????? HA!

Chris
