Murray Rothbard was active in the New Left in the 60s. He succeeded in convincing SDS president Carl Oglesby there was virtue in the ideas of the Old Right. This delightfully idiosyncratic happy warrior had been a supporter of both the 1948 Thurmond-Wright States' Rights ticket and the 1968 Peace and Freedom Party, a supporter of tax renegade Gordon Kahl, the Black Panthers, mayoral candidate Norman Mailer, Senator Mark Hatfield, SDS, and Pat Buchanan.

His efforts at fusing the New Left with the Old Right failed, but all those confabs he called together in the 60s got ideas flowing, and several movements and groups were started as a result. I may be mistaken, but I think the Libertarian Party was founded as a direct result of Rothbard getting people together.
