Misinformation alert ...

For a few days I've been posting that Windows/Tempor~1 had some 'special' stuff in it which fooled Explorer into displaying its contents as folders and files, which they were not. THIS WAS NONSENSE! Looking at the thing more carefully today, I discovered that Windows/Tempor~1 does contain folders after all: It's just that these folders carry the SYSTEM attribute set: unusual to say the least.

SO! If one wants to see the contents of Windows\Tempor~1 they must use the DOS command DIR /AD and they'll see the sub-folders. Use DIR /AS and DIR /AH to see the stuff marked as system and hidden.

Sorry if my earlier uninformed posts led anyone astray.

Cheers, PW.
