Analog Devices ships 16-bit ADCs
Jul 19, 2000 --- Analog Devices Inc. today started shipping its 16-bit AD7664 and AD7660 analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).
The Norwood, Mass.-based company claims that the AD7664's 570 kHz operation 70 percent faster than the next quickest is 16-bit sampling ADC. The AD7660, claims the company, is now the lowest priced, most accurate 16-bit sampling ADC at 100 kHz.
Analog Devices say both ADCs have power consumption that is scalable with sampling rate to ensure lower system power consumption. Both are pin-compatible to make them upgradable to future Analog Devices ADC products. Both also feature flexible parallel or serial interface, produce AC typical performance of 90 dB (decibels), which the company says allows low-level noise signal capture.
"The market for 16-bit ADCs is seeing explosive growth in applications like fiber optics, and these two parts will further fuel this growth by providing an extremely fast and accurate, no pipeline delay, no missing code ADC, at a lower price,'' said Bhaskar Banerjee, product manager for high resolution 16-bit ADCs, Analog Devices.
The AD7660 coats $7.50 and the AD7664 $18.00 per 1,000 piece quantities in 48-pin lead quad flat pack LQFP packages.
