(NYSE:RAD) in the S&P 500 Index with JDS Uniphase Corp. (NASDAQ:JDSU) after the close of trading on Wednesday, July 26, 2000. Rite Aid Corp. is being removed for lack of representation. JDS Uniphase designs, develops, manufactures and distributes products for fiberoptic communications market that are deployed to develop advanced optical networks for the telecommunications and cable television industries. JDS Uniphase is a US company with US headquarters that has operations in Canada. It was formed by the merger of Uniphase, a US company, and JDS Fitel, a Canadian company. The company, headquartered in San Jose, CA, will be added to the S&P 500 Communications Equipment industry group.
