If WCDMA truly is an inferior product wouldn't Q be shooting itself in the foot financially and otherwise to commit precious resources to it?

Once Q commits to developing WCDMA wouldn't their enemies immediately start harping on any delays in bringing a decent WCDMA solution to market? WCDMA seems like a Nipponavian red herring to me.

Right now it looks like big companies are jumping on a WCDMA bandwagon that is moving away from, rather than towards, the real party. I'm inclined to think that those companies who adopt 1x for expediency sake will also buy themselves (and a crack Qualcomm salesforce) the time they need to evaluate the logic of a CDMA2000 solution for 3G that is more efficient, less costly, and available now. In the end, I take comfort in that we are dealing with companies, not nations, and the bottom line will always be the greatest motivator of all. Seems to me CDMA2000 speaks the international language in that regard to anyone who takes the time to listen.
